You Know You Love Me

Eh beb, what's new with you? I have been, as always, doing some serious internet shopping and, of course, have found several thousand things that I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT OMGGGG!!!!. I am so predictable. But at least I'm consistent? So let's skip all the small talk and get right down to it, shall we? I'm feeling a bit of a Gossip Girl theme, run with me.

1. La Chasse Aux Papillons by L'Artisan Parfumeur

The name means "Chase of the Butterflies," which plays right into my dream of being this carefree, ethereal little pixie who is semi-childlike and does things like chase butterflies, which, now that I think about it, I didn't even do when I was a child. Totally something S would wear, I think. What, you didn't think I was serious about this theme business?

2. Urban Outfitters "Plumage" Headband in Peacock

Obviously this is Blair Waldorf. Faaaabulous. And while I'm at it, here are a few more pieces that remind me of my favorite Upper East Sider (if we're not counting Serena, or in my case, Chuck.) You may not like Blair, but you have to admit, the girl has style.

from Urban Outfitters...

Printed ID Card Case in Pink

Cloisonne Button Stud Earrings in Blue

BDG Double Stripe Cardigan in Grey

from J.Crew (for which my love is well-documented)...

Cashmere "Audrey" Dress

"Tartine" Cardigan in Mushroom

Herringbone "Fiona" Jacket in Sweet Potato

"Lulu" Leather Peep Toes in Honey Glaze

moving on...

for Serena, Anthropologie's "In-the-Wings" sheath

A Peace Treaty "Phatak Buff" scarf, from ShopBop

Jack Rabbit Collection "Concord" Tote in Burgundy, from ShopBop

Mike & Chris "Kellen" Leather Jacket in Cognac, from ShopBop

and how about a few for little J?

Champagne Speakeasy Dress, from Fred Flare

"Ivy League" Weekender, from Fred Flare
(I know I've already mentioned this, but there are new colors and I love this bag to death)

See by Chloe Oversized 3/4 Sleeve Coat, from ShopBop

ahh, wasn't that fun? Maybe sometime I'll get ambitious and play stylist to the rest of the cast, especially Georgina (I don't care if she was a psycho bitch, she looked good in leather.)

I think you know how this ends...

Dear Fendi dress that was $2570 and is now $1542, which is still ridiculous, at net-a-porter.com,

You are gorgeous and I want you so bad but I probably won't get you. Tell Karl Lagerfeld, your creative director, to go fuck himself for making such a beautiful dress and then toying with my fragile emotions by making it cost more than six Alice + Olivia frocks.
Love,
Emily

Polyvore

Hello, dear reader. See those little buttons to the right of this post? They link to my profile on my favorite website ever, Polyvore.com .

Why is it so wonderful? Well, I'll tell you.

When I online shop, I usually have a few carts going at once, and a lot of the time I want to see how all the pieces work together, and how they'll look as outfits. Polyvore makes this very easy. All you do is see something you like on a website, click "clip to Polyvore" and click on it. Then it's in your items, and you can use it to do the really great part of Polyvore. You can make outfits with all of them. It's so easy, you just drag and drop and adjust the images, and you can add in random pictures and stuff that you want to go with the clothes. My 7-year-old dreams of becoming a fashion designer are being reawakened. It's like glorified collage-making. But it's awesome. Here's an example of a casual outfit that I am now determined to wear this fall.

Simple, but colorful and soo cute. The red and the yellow are risky, but I think they could be pulled off.

and here's another for the cocktail parties at which I so frequently am a guest:

Nice, right? I may have a bit of a yellow sweater fetish, but the flats are gorgeous and I like the dress a lot (seriously, Forever 21 isn't all bad.)

I've also found some great stuff in other peoples' sets. You can search by item, main color, and popularity. Ahh what a great new way to waste my time on the internet. You should too! Click on the badge (because you know you heart Polyvore too) and jump on my bandwagon.

Summer Love

Ah, summer. I love summer because it's fuzzy around the edges. Everything's a bit hazy and the nights blend into the days and nothing is as serious as it would be in the winter. It's relaxed and it's ambitious and it's a time for reinvention and fun. Summer is just very lovely I think, and it comes with it's own style. And so, here are some of the lovely things that I will most definitely be loving this summer.

1. OPI Brights Nail Polish

I'm usually not one for super bright nail polish. In fact, I'm not usually one for nail polish at all. But I think summer, with flip flops and pools and the beach kind of begs for some pretty toes. I might even consider getting all Roy G Biv on my feet if the mood strikes me.

2. Vers Wood iPod Speaker Dock

Perfect for the imaginary Barbecues and Garden Parties I frequently host.

3. Andy Warhol "Happy Bug Day" Tote

A little secret: I hate bugs. However, I absolutely love this tote bag. It's so whimsical and cute, I'll pretend that I'm one of those people who doesn't immediately smash ants and spiders when they see them. This is a little harder to find than the other things, so here's the link to the store I bought it from

4. Chloe EDP

Smells amazing, and the bottle is the prettiest one my shelf.

I also like Marc Jacobs Grapefruit. The staying power isn't great, but it smells very fresh and summery, and you get a lot for the price. I like to put it in the refrigerator and use it as a cooling spray too.

And now a few of the obligatory obsessions from J.Crew...

The Fruits of My Browsing

For the past month or so I've gone on something of a internet shopping frenzy, and I proudly present to you the crap that I deemed worthy of my cash.

1. Fred Flare Giant Headphones

Um, yes please.

2. Fred Flare "Ivy League" Weekender

I will never stop loving the whole collegiate look. I especially love it when it has a touch of 50's style in it (I mean, one could argue that the bag isn't 50's-ish, but I get that vibe from it.) Either way, I love this bag (and it comes with a detachable shoulder strap, so I think it would work as a functional book bag.) Plus, it would seriously be the most adorable effing thing ever when paired with these:

Seriously, I hate saying OMG, but this calls for it. So, OMG at these (Fred Flare, again) "Johnny" glasses.

3. Tolani Zigzag Scarf

Saw this on Jessica Alba, and already being in love with scarves (I literally own like, 14 pashminas,) I obviously needed to add some of these to my collection. I love the sort of rustic-y cabin in the woods look of these. Although I kind of try to avoid wearing big scarves with non-wintery clothes (I just think it looks kind of dumb, like wearing uggs with a skirt,) I may have to if I cant bear to wait for November to break my Tolanis out. Robin and Bright Blue are my favorite colors, and these ones are at Blue Heaven Boutique (which looks like a pretty crappy online store, but I'm just biased because of the layout. Shop Bop has spoiled me a bit.)

4. American Apparel Jersey Double Brested Cardigan

You know, I've tried really hard to hate American Apparel. I have tried to avoid wearing their clothes and browsing their web site and visiting their stores because of their stupid try-too-hardy way of being sexy, their ridiculous spandex unitards, Dov Charney and his mustache, and the fact that it is associated with the worst type of hipsters and unfunny ironic "80s Night" dances. But you know, they make a damn good t-shirt. And they have some other stuff that I just can't resist. Like this cardigan, which I love. So you know what, American Apparel? You can have your nipples peeking through mesh shirts, your male belly shirts, and your gold hotpants. I'll still love you at the end of the day when I'm wearing my well-fitting purple hoodie and my cute boy briefs.

5. rsvp "Herlene" Flats
Ok, may I just say that I do not endorse the name of these shoes. Seriously, rsvp, Herlene? That's the best you could come up with? Apparently. Now luckily, the shoe naming department over at rsvp isn't in charge of the shoe designing department, and the latter has managed to create this cute little flat. Although I could maybe do without the open toe, I love the jewel on the top, and the colors, and the leather, so this shoe is getting an A+ in my book. And it's only $80 at Zappos, which, while not exactly cheap, isn't bad as cute shoes go.

Semi-Frostbite-Preventative Footwear Favorites

Winter and I have a love-hate relationship. On one hand, I love the pre-Christmas Winter-y winterness because it's not all depressing and bleak, and there's a long vacation and some good food to look forward too. Not a bad deal at all. On the other hand, there's the long post-Christmas months, the ones that are bleak and gray and cold. The only thing there is to look forward to is Spring, which only makes me hate the weather more. It's the same way for clothing. Like, sometimes I love wearing my Barbour or a nice peacoat and some boots and a nice pashmina, and then sometimes I hate trudging out the door in like, rubber clogs and a puffy jacket. It's harder to have that easy, I-just-breezed-out-the-door look of Summer and Spring when you're clad head to toe in gore-tex. I have, however, found some cute, non-Iditarod participant, but still warm winter items. So first, we have...

1. Hunter Boots

I love rubber boots. However, I don't love when my rubber boots are too short, too childish, or too shiny. And guess what? My Hunters are none of those things. Are these too obvious? I feel like I'm way behind everything that is fashionable and everyone knows about Hunter boots being chic already. Eh, whatev, there fucking awesome. They reach to a little below my knee, which makes whatever outfit I wear them with actually look more polished and less like WHOA GALOSHES. Also, they come in great colors and are matte. And they're kinda sophisticated, which is great for a pair of rainboots. I just can't decide which color I like more: Merlot or Pumpkin?

2. L.L. Bean 'Wicked Good Mocs'

So when it's not all slushy and wet, and it's just DRY and COLD, these are my favorite shoes on the goddamn planet. As you can see, they're really furry, which some people say makes them incredibly ugly, but I kind of like the Elmer-Fudd-Hat-As-Shoe look, so I don't really care. These are so incredibly comfortable, it's insane. I'd buy them a half or whole size smaller though, because they're kind of loose and they slip off a lot if you get them in your actual size.
